Cedarwood Primary School was most recently inspected by Ofsted in January 2023, when the school was judged to be ‘Good’.

At Cedarwood, our ethos is simple: Excellence and Enjoyment for All. We want every child to enjoy coming to school, feel that they belong and be inspired and supported to achieve their very best.

Children who enjoy coming to school

“Pupils really enjoy attending Cedarwood School.”

This is something that matters enormously to us. We believe children learn best when they are happy, curious and excited about their learning.

Inspectors recognised the many practical activities our children experience as part of their lessons and how these help them develop a strong understanding of what they have learned and achieve well.

High expectations in a calm, positive environment

Ofsted recognised that our leaders are ambitious for what pupils can accomplish and have high expectations for behaviour.

For us, Excellence and Enjoyment for All means creating an environment where children feel safe and supported while being encouraged to challenge themselves, develop confidence and take pride in their achievements.

Kindness, respect and belonging

We are particularly proud that inspectors recognised the caring and inclusive nature of Cedarwood.

Our children are encouraged to think about their learning and the world around them, with important values such as respect woven throughout our curriculum and everyday school life.

We want every child to know that they belong at Cedarwood and that their contribution to our school community is valued.

Celebrating a love of reading

“Reading is celebrated at Cedarwood. The library sits at the heart of the school, offering a range of attractive books.”

Reading really does sit at the heart of Cedarwood. We want children not only to become confident and successful readers, but also to discover the enjoyment, imagination and opportunities that a lifelong love of reading can bring.

Recognition from Suffolk

Following our inspection, we were also delighted to receive a letter from Allan Cadzow, Corporate Director for Children and Young People at Suffolk County Council, congratulating the Cedarwood community.

“I wish you warm congratulations on the outstanding teaching and learning environment that is evident.”

His congratulations extended to our pupils, staff, governors, parents and carers, reflecting the important part our whole community plays in making Cedarwood such a special place to learn and grow.

We are extremely proud of the positive picture of Cedarwood reflected in our Ofsted report.

We also know that a successful school never stands still. We continue to build on our strengths, listen to our children and families, and look for new ways to make learning even better.
