What is Pupil Premium?
The pupil premium is a government initiative that targets extra money at pupils experiencing hardship or deprivation.
The government has provided this premium for pupils entitled to free school meals (FSM), Looked after children (CLA) and service children and have provided a fixed amount of money for schools per pupil based on the number of pupils registered for FSM over a rolling six year period.

The Government believes that Pupil Premium funding, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

At Cedarwood Primary School, Pupil Premium represents a relatively small proportion of our overall budget. We use this premium to ensure service pupils, pupils entitled to free school meals and Looked after Children have any barriers to learning removed.
