Keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do at Cedarwood.

We want every child to feel safe, happy, valued and confident that there is always someone they can talk to if something is worrying them.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Our staff know our children well, are trained to recognise when something may not be right and understand exactly what to do if they have a concern. Just as importantly, we teach our pupils how to keep themselves and others safe and encourage them to speak to a trusted adult whenever something worries them.

Worried about a child?

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please tell us. You do not need to be certain that something is wrong before sharing a concern – we would always rather you speak to us.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger or at risk of serious harm, call 999.

A strong culture of safeguarding

Safeguarding at Cedarwood is about much more than responding when something goes wrong. We work to create a strong culture in which children feel safe, listened to and confident to ask for help.

Our staff, governors and volunteers understand their safeguarding responsibilities. We follow safer recruitment procedures, carry out the required checks and ensure staff receive regular safeguarding training and updates.

Through our curriculum and everyday school life, we also help children learn how to keep themselves and others safe, including online. Pupils are encouraged to talk to a trusted adult about anything that makes them feel worried, uncomfortable or unsafe, however small it may seem.
